H.E. The President of the Hellenic Republic Ms Katerina Sakellaropoulou welcomed on Wednesday 12 June 2024 at the Presidentia Mansion the Director of the European Public Law Organization Professor Spyridon Flogaitis, as well as the President of the Institute for Justice and Growth (IJG) Mr Nikolas Kanellopoulos and the President of the Institute for Private Law, Data Protection and Technology (IPL) of EPLO, Professor Lilian Mitrou.
The meeting took place in a cordial atmosphere and the activities of the two Institutes and their interventions in the public debate during the last years were presented to the President, along with the reforms required in the field of justice and issues related to the application of new technologies, especially artificial intelligence, in all aspects of public and private of life and their effects. In this context, the critical role that the two Institutes can and should play through their scientific potential under the auspices of an internationally prestigious Organization, such as the European Public Law Organization was highlighted .
The representatives of the Organization expressed their desire and intention to rise to the challenges and demands of the time and once again placed themselves at the disposal of the Presidency of the Republic for synergies and promotion of the public scientific dialogue on the institutional issues that concern the academic and scientific world.
H.E.The President of the Republic expressed her appreciation for the work of the Organization and its Institutes. The culmination of this is the provision of the patronage of the Presidency of the Republic to the upcoming 3rd International Conference entitled “Quo Vadis AI Act?”, organized by the Institute for Privacy, Personal Data Protection Law and Technology and the Institute for Justice and Development, on Tuesday 18 June 2024 at the Divani Caravel Hotel, with the focus of the topic this time on the Artificial Intelligence Act, a turning point, a milestone for the use of Artificial Intelligence in the public and private sector.
